Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate but that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, which frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.
And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
- From 'A return to love' by Marianne Williamsom
Vivekananda's Quote of the Day: We must be bright and cheerful.
Long faces do not make religion. Religion should be the most joyful thing in the world, because it is the best.
Live for an ideal, and that one ideal alone. Let it be so great, so strong, that there may be nothing else left in the mind; no place for anything else, no time for anything else.
There is NOTHING that GOD cannot handle! .
May FAITHFULNESS be your encouragement for TODAY, and, ALL your TOMORROWS!
A Living Hope
1 PETER 1:3-9
Hope is both a strong belief and the anticipation that something good is going to happen. When our goals are not achieved, we may experience discouragement, which over time can turn into depression and even despair—the absence of hope.
How can we remain optimistic in the face of unmet expectations? First, we're to remember the reason for our confidence: our relationship with Jesus. At salvation, we were born into a living hope (v. 3)—God made us a "new creation," and we are no longer in bondage to the old sin nature (2 Cor.
Second, to maintain a positive outlook, we must spend daily time in the Scriptures. Romans 15:4 says that the Bible was written to give us encouragement and hope. The Psalms can be especially helpful in difficult times because they express the feelings we have and also tell us about the comfort available from God.
Third, we rely on the Lord's faithfulness. Trusting in Him will never disappoint us because all of His promises are yes in Christ (2 Cor.
Believers should not react to trials as the world does. We're to live by faith—"being sure of what we hope for " (Heb. 11:1 NIV). When circumstances overwhelm you, shift your focus to the Lord. Read the Scriptures to find encouragement, and be reminded of what is yours in Christ (Eph. 1:3-8).
May I be born again and again, and suffer thousands of miseries so that I may worship the only God that exists, the only God I believe in, the sum total of all souls--and, above all, my God the wicked, my God the miserable, my God the poor of all races, of all species, is the special object of my worship -- Swami Vivekananda
Think day and night, "I am of the essence of that Supreme Existence, Knowledge, Bliss--what fear and anxiety have I? This body, mind, and intellect are all transient, and That which is beyond these is myself." -- -- Swami Vivekananda
Discriminate within yourself between the real and the unreal. Have you not read the Vedanta? Even when you sleep, keep the sword of discrimination at the head of your bed, so that covetousness cannot approach you even in dream. Practicing such strength, renunciation will gradually come, and then you will see the portals of heaven are wide open to you -- Swami Vivekananda
Vivekananda's Quote:
Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life--think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success, and this is the way great spiritual giants are produced. Others are mere talking machines.

Constantly think of Atma. Atma is indivisible. Cause and effect are not concerned with Atma. Atma is not bound by God or bad results of action. When the mind gets purification by doing duty bound actions, then one can attain 'Jnana'. Then only one can realize the pure Paramatma, residing in all animate and inanimate objects. When we are performing actions which are ordained to us, as our duties in a selfless manner, we will get purity of mind. If we do not do this, we will be wasting our time in pleasures of life.
We must first of all know 'What is Atma'. The 'Atma' that is present everywhere is God. There is nothing except God, we must know this clearly. If we are in constant meditation, we can visualize Atma and that the entire Universe is seen in Self-Effulgent Atma. The whole world is a mirage. It is a projection of Maya. As we are not having real knowledge of Atma-Swaroopa, we will see the tricks of Maya as real. When we attain real knowledge, the Maya gets dissolved.
Atma and its power are eternal. It is pure knowledge independent of any attachments. It will never get tied up with any action. So, the truth is that man is a permanent embodiment of Atma. Atma is not a thing to be cultivated. Its always present. This is a supreme truth. All worldly activities in due course of time get destroyed and merged in Atma. That is why, Atma is said to be Ekam and is without a second. Atma is permanent and does not change, but the world is impermanent and will always be changing. We must know that the basis of the Universe is Atma only.
If one tries to know his true-self, that is Atma and then he will get rid of worldly attachments. He, who is enjoying the Atmananda, will get detached from dualities of the world, from birth and death cycle and gets salvation. If we attain such state, there will not be worldly disturbances in us.
The whole universe is one in the Atman. That Atman when it appears behind the universe is called God. The same Atman when it appears behind this little universe, the body, is the soul. This very soul, therefore, is the Atman in us.
The very rising of the

Fight!!
Fight it out! When oppression challenges fact and truth is valued lesser than the word of the outsider. Then fight it out. When tolerance reaches a point of no return, when goodness and honesty is re evaluated and aspersions are cast, then fight it out! When circumstantial points of evidence become conclusively demanding and the truth is not allowed to slip by even through that very narrow opening in the wall, then fight it out!! Fight not to win. Fight to prove that the accuser is motivated and without reason. That he has been programmed to cause distress and discomfort.

This is the great lesson that we are here to learn through myriads of births and heavens and hells—that there is nothing to be asked for, desired for, beyond one’s spiritual Self (atman) --Swami Vivekananda
To succeed, you must have tremendous perseverance, tremendous will. "I will rink the ocean," says the persevering soul, "at my will mountains will crumble up." Have that sort of energy, that sort of will, work hard, and you will reach the goal – Swami Vivekananda
Those who have succeeded in attaching or detaching their minds at will have succeeded in Pratyahara, which means "gathering towards," checking the outgoing powers of the mind, freeing it from the thralldom of the senses. When we can do this, we shall really possess character; then alone we shall have taken a long step towards freedom. Before that, we are mere machines -- Swami Vivekananda

-- G.K. Chesterton
“Paradoxically, a group of humans becomes healing and converting only after its members have learned to stop trying to heal and convert. Community is a safe place precisely because no one is attempting to heal or convert you, to fix you, to change you. Instead, the members accept you as you are. You are free to be you. And being so free, you are free to discard defenses, masks, disguises; free to seek your own psychological and spiritual health; free to become your whole and holy self.”

Believe in the 3 D's: Determination, dedication and discipline. They will take you a long way.
“We tell ourselves so many lies and half-truths ... We listen and are duly impressed by these inner voices that turn into unseen judges that nag at us. We give each of these judges a seat of honor in our minds, all the while hating their guts and their never-ending supply of judgements ... We give the judges permission to accompany us on each journey of life, never daring to realize that we can park them, at least momentarily.”
-- Eloise Ristad
“The Inner Critic makes each of us a child. As we become the child in our relationships, we lose our sense of self. We are no longer self-contained, self-respecting adults. We look to others for validation. Our self-worth is based upon their opinion of us. Thus, everyone around us becomes a mother or a father whose support and approval is desperately needed to protect us from the constant criticism of the Inner Critic.”

“Besides learning to see, there is another art to be learned -- not to see what is not.” -- Maria Mitchell
The disciple must have great power of endurance. Life seems comfortable; and you find the mind behaves well when everything is going well with you. But if something goes wrong, your mind loses its balance. That is not good. Bear all evil and misery without one murmur of hurt, without one thought of unhappiness, resistance, remedy, or retaliation. That is true endurance; and that you must acquire – Swami Vivekananda
The important thing is: how much less you think of the body, of yourself as matter--as dead, dull, insentient matter; how much more you think of yourself as shining immortal being. The more you think of yourself as shining immortal spirit, the more eager you will be to be absolutely free of matter, body and senses. This is the intense desire to be free – Swami Vivekananda
I have been asked many times, "Why do you laugh so much and make so many jokes?" I become serious sometimes--when I have a stomachache! The Lord is all blissfulness. He is the reality behind all that exists. He is the goodness, the truth in everything. You are His incarnations. That is what is glorious. The nearer you are to Him, the less you will have occasions to cry or weep. The further we are from Him, the more will long faces come. The more we know of Him, the more misery vanishes—Swami Vivekananda
The moment you fear, you are nobody. It is fear that is the great cause of misery in the world. It is fear that is the greatest of all superstitions. It is the fear that is the cause of our woes, and it is fearlessness that brings heaven in a moment --Swami Vivekananda
“If there are so many seekers, why are there so few finders?” -- Eckhart Tolle
"There is surely nothing other than the single purpose of the present moment. A man's whole life is a succession of moment after moment. If one fully understands the present moment, there will be nothing else to do, and nothing else to pursue." -- Hagakure
“The world situation that life is presenting us with in the 21st century is a natural outcome of the state of consciousness that has created it.
“People having an internal system for understanding life that is based on limited thought processes and giving a view of themselves as separate and insecure individuals, naturally creates a world full of conflict and fear.
“But consider that this may also be part of a perfect unfolding!
“This may be how life works, that each stage of consciousness along the way in our development brings with it its own crisis.
“Each crisis forces individuals to question their current reality system, and to try to find a new stability by stretching into new versions of themselves with fuller capabilities and by outgrowing any old habits that no longer support them.
“Life creates situations that cannot be solved at their own level because the ways of seeing and knowing that have brought us to this point aren’t working anymore. Our old paradigms and models are failing us and we are forced to let go of our old ways of constructing reality and look again to see what we have missed.”

“We have the need to be accepted and to be loved by others, but we cannot accept and love ourselves. The more self-love we have, the less we will experience self-abuse. Self-abuse comes from self-rejection, and self-rejection comes from having an image of what it means to be perfect and never measuring up to that ideal. Our image of perfection is the reason we reject ourselves the way we are, and why we don't accept others the way they are.”
-- Don Miguel Ruiz
“The maxim ‘Nothing but perfection’ may be spelled ‘Paralysis.’”
-- Winston Churchill
“After enough mirror gazing, we all develop our ‘cosmic sense of humor.’ We no longer try to be perfect, or try to get all our work done in time. We become content with whatever life brings. Just to deal with what comes up without crucifying ourselves or others is enough of a challenge.”
-- Paul Ferrini
“Good enough never is.”
-- Debbi Fields
Tremendous purity, tremendous renunciation, is the one secret of spirituality. How can great spirituality come without renunciation? Renunciation is the background of all religious thought wherever it be, and you will always find that as this idea of renunciation lessens, the more will the senses creep into the field of religion, and spirituality will decrease in the same ratio -- Swami Vivekananda

“It is so easy to waste our lives: our days, our hours, our minutes. ... It is so easy to exist instead of live. Unless you know there is a clock ticking. So many of us changed our lives when we heard a biological clock and decided to have kids. But that sound is a murmur compared to the tolling of mortality.”
-- Anna Quindlen
They alone live whose lives are in the whole universe. The more we concentrate our lives in limited things, the faster we go towards death. Those moments alone we live when our lives are in the universe, in others; and living this little life is death, simply death, and that is why the fear of death comes.
--Swami Vivekananda

True religion is not talk, or doctrines, or theories, nor is it sectarianism. It is the relation between soul and God. Religion does not consist in erecting temples, or building churches, or attending public worship. It is not to be found in books, or in words, or in lectures, or in organizations. Religion consists in realization. We must realize God, feel God, see God, talk to God. That is religion.
